Caving in Gadston, AL with Kelly, Mark, and Alan
TAG stands for Tennessee Alabama Gerogia

Spent the weekend caving with Kelly Keener, Mark Medlen, and Alan Cressler. We went to Green Valley Cave on Sat where I took a fall while traversing a canyon in a section of the cave off the map. A ledge broke out from underneath me and I fell into a canyon. When I caught myself, I tore open a recent surgery I had. I had to go to the emergency room in Gadston where they gave me 5 stitches. I just got the bill and it was close to $900! Insurance covered most of it but I had to pay $50. That was an expensive cave trip. Afterward Alan wanted to visit several caves nearby, and the only access was by water. Mark had some inflatable kayaks that we used. They were actually really good but the plastic is kind of thin, and I would not trust them on anything serious. Kelly and I decided to just paddle around the lake while Alan and Mark checked out the caves. On Sunday I visited Cedar Mountain Cave, and Daugette number 1 and 2. Daugette No 1 was quite impressive in size. We toured around and cleaned up about 400 feet of extension cords that were used to power a street light in the cave. Talk about the ultimate cave light! We also pulled out a lawn chair. Never underestimate the ability of locals to provide for their comfort on their cave expeditions. All and all it was great weekend, except for the cave accident I had. I do not know, maybe I affect gravity around me or something. As I am getting back into caving, the cave rescue squads might want to go into high alert:-)
